Department of Health KwaZulu Natal Learnership Available

This Department offers selected candidates a four-year program to learn and gain valuable skills within their selected field of medical care. They also offer one and two-year learnerships in the nursing field.

  • Neonatal Nursing Science
  • Psychiatric Nursing
  • Critical Care Nursing
  • Midwifery
  • Theatre Nursing
  • Enrolled Nursing
  • Clinical Specialization
  • Social Auxiliary work
  • Professional Nursing
  • Pharmacist Assistant
  • Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary

Basic Requirements

Interested Candidates must meet all the requirements set out by the Department. Interested Candidates must be aged between 18-35. All necessary documents must be certified and not older than 3 months.

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Candidates must be a permanent South African Citizen
  • Applicants must be in a possession of a valid South African ID document
  • Candidates must have completed a Matric
  • Candidates must be staying in the same area they are applying in
  • Candidates must be currently unemployed
  • Applicants must be Fluent in English
  • With Life Science and Biology subjects is preferred
  • Be computer literate

Candidates must have the following competencies and attributes:

  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Can handle pressure and crisis situations
  • Must have great life skills, compassion, and a caring nature
  • A love for studying
  • Be honest and reliable

Application Process

Online Applications are not available. The Department application forms can be collected at the Government hospital nearest to where candidates stay and also returned there. For more information visit the Department of Health Kwa-Zulu Natal online.

The application must be fully completed and then returned with the appropriate records and certification as is stipulated in the advertisement. Each learnership advertised will be for acceptance by selected candidates to start the following year. Successful applicants will also be required to sign a contract with the Department.

All documentation and the application must be signed, certified and submitted before the closing date. Applications must not be given or delivered to any of the hospitals, clinics or nursing colleges in this area. Interested individuals must please read the advertisement carefully and follow it precisely.

Interested candidates must know that the department receives plenty of Applications therefore they cannot respond to all. Applicants who have applied and they have not heard anything within three months from the closing date, may kindly consider their applications unsuccessful. Candidates who have taken part of this program before will not be considered again. Late application, Unsigned Application Forms and Incomplete Applications will not be taken into consideration.
