The department of transport invites young talented individuals every year to become part of this initiative and for further information visit their websites. Candidates must be prepared to learn about all related fields and information concerning traffic, road, and vehicles. You will receive classes, along with field experience, and learn from experts within this field.

Traffic Officer Learnership Proramme:Basic Requirements

Candidates must be aged between 18 and 35 in order for them to take of this initiative. Candidates must include a detailed curriculum vitae and any other information they feel may be important to their applications. All necessary documents included must be certified and not older than 3 months

Candidates will also be required to adhere to the following:

  • Candidates must be a permanent South African citizen
  • Candidates must be in possession of a valid SA ID document
  • All applicants must be in possession of a driving license
  • Candidates must be in possession of a matric certificate
  • Applicants must be able to write, read and speak in English
  • Candidates must have a clear criminal record
  • Applicants must be physically and mentally fit
  • Applicants must be competent to possess a firearm, thus not be declared incompetent in accordance to the Firearms Control Act
  • All applicants must not be declared incompetent in any other Legislation that could be of relevance
  • Applicants must be willing to work weekends, public holidays plus shifts
  • Candidates must have exceptional communication skills ?Verbal & Written
  • Applicants must not be involved in any employee dismissal processes

Applicants who submit invalid documents may be prosecuted. Only successful candidates will be contacted. Candidates will be required to do some tests before they start with their learnership. Candidates must know that after the completion of their learnership does not mean they will receive a permanent contract of employment, however some candidates may offered permanent positions.

Application Process

These learnership programs are made available every year by different companies on their websites. Some companies prefer a hand delivered application method and application forms can be collected at the local office.

Applicants will be asked to complete a Z83 Form, this can be found at each of the Provincial Government Departments.

Candidates are encourage to complete and sign their application forms. Candidates must include a detailed curriculum vitae and any other information they may feel is important to their applications. All necessary documents must be certified and not older than three months.

Successful candidates will be contacted. Should the candidates not hear anything after three months of the closing date they may consider their applications unsuccessful.
